Basic Info
Name:Haruno Sakura
Bio
But eventually we must find
Our true colours
Our own stride
Name: Haruno Sakura
Age: 18
Status: Lesser nobility
Test our limits
Plumb our depths
Dive deeper
Personality:

Sakura is one of those cases where there’s more going on beneath the surface than you might think. Around people of authority, she often plays the quiet and demure lady, but inside she’s strong-willed and free-thinking, and has something of a temper. She tries to abide by the rules whenever possible, because that’s what’s expected and she wants to exceed expectations, but she doesn’t always like doing so; in fact, oftentimes she hates it. She maintains a cheerful front around her peers, though really she has some pretty big self-esteem issues, seeing herself as “nothing special” due to both her family situation and her own lack of distinctive skills. She’s very tenacious, however: once she sets her mind to something, she won’t give up, no matter the cost. Also, she cares very deeply for her friends, family, and village, and would gladly give her life to save any of them.

Stretch and crack and grow again through the pain
Tearing through the colourless screen
To find ourselves rendered in glorious Technicolor;
Magic:

Sakura’s strongest skills are the textbook knowledge of magic that she possesses (which is rather a lot), and most of all her control. She has SUPERB control of her magic, better than anyone else her age, but she has yet to really put this skill to use. She's fairly good at healing spells since she's been training under Lady Tsunade, the village's best-known healer. She’s also good with anti-illusion magic since she’s familiar with a large number of spells; she’d probably be good at casting illusions if she were trained to do so. Her secret weapon, though, are the strength-enhancing spells that Tsunade taught her--when she's under the effects of those spells, she's many times stronger than a full-grown, well-muscled man.
Elsewise, we are not really ourselves at all,
Just mere shadows, smudges of ink and charcoal
Surrounded by an ocean of white
History:

Sakura’s family are old nobility--old and rather fallen nobility, in fact. The family has grown small in recent generations, and possesses neither an impressive amount of wealth nor a great deal of social status or power, but they do still retain their honour, and are reliable and unswervingly loyal to the village.

Sakura’s upbringing was a bit of a struggle: her mother wanted her to be raised as a perfect little lady, the easier to marry her off to some high-born noble at a later date; Sakura on the other hand wanted to train to become a mage, a prospect that her mother eventually accepted, though only grudgingly, and only on the condition that the long sessions of poring over books and whatever else would be punctuated with lessons on becoming a “proper lady”--needlework (which Sakura was fairly decent at, but hated with a passion), playing an instrument (she never quite managed to master that one), dancing (which she actually did enjoy), etiquette (boring but necessary), and the like. Unbeknownst to her mother, she managed to convince her father that since she was his heir, she needed to be physically strong as well, hinting that a bit of knowledge about swordplay and the like certainly wouldn’t be out of place. Her father consented to this (without her mother’s knowledge), but though Sakura does know how to handle a weapon and defend herself somewhat, the training was never very intensive; there’s quite a lot of room for improvement there.

Another note of some importance: ever since her early days at the academy, Sakura has been somewhat enamoured with Uchiha Sasuke. He’s handsome and intelligent, well-born and highly skilled, a member of the elite even among the nobility…and if she followed her parents’ line of thought, making a connection with an Uchiha would certainly raise the status of the Haruno family once more.

Her parents (her mother in particular) do occasionally try to push her towards certain eligible high-class nobles--inviting them over to dinner, making certain Sakura attends every ball that anyone who is someone will be attending, etc.--which Sakura does not appreciate in the least except maybe she does just a little when it’s Sasuke, not that he’s ever accepted their dinner invitations.
Wavering spirits lost in a winter graveyard:
Nothing worth seeing above the ground,
Nothing still living below it.
